In the spirit of Muharram, we have prepared a series called #10_Days_Of_Inspiration. The events of Karbala should not be remembered merely as a story in history. It is an example from which we must learn and implement the immensely valuable lessons set down by the great leader that is Hussain (a.s) and his family and companions. Ashura is a school and a great human wealth to all generations and diversities, and it is for this reason we must focus on not only the tragic aspect but the way in which it demonstrates to us how we should face the problems that arise in the present day.
There is no doubt that the wrongful killing of anyone – let alone an Imam – is tragic and horrific to say the least. But, at the same time, it does not do justice to Imam Hussain (as) for us to merely equate Ashura to tragedy. On Ashura, Hussain achieved victory. He was victorious because he inherited the messages of all the prophets before him. He was victorious because he embodied that message and acted upon it. He was victorious because he was a Muslim, in its full meaning. He was victorious because he didn’t let anything come in the way of fighting for the truth and defending his religion. So let us learn from Hussain how to be victorious in our lives and in our struggles, and let us commemorate the events of Karbala on this basis.
InshaAllah this will help all of us to feel more inspired and make the most of such a lesson. Please feel free to share and discuss with family and friends.
