Bismillah Arrahman Arrahim
“Only the attentive will respond ˹to your call˺. As for the dead, Allah will raise them up, then to Him they will ˹all˺ be returned” Al-An’am 36
“إِنَّمَا يَسْتَجِيبُ الَّذِينَ يَسْمَعُونَ وَالْمَوْتَى يَبْعَثُهُمُ اللَّهُ ثُمَّ إِلَيْهِ يُرْجَعُونَ” الأنعام ٣٦
– This verse distinguishes between the people who are really alive and those who are dead.
– The first group listen to the call to worship Allah and they submit to His rules. So they practically respond to this call by implementing it their lives.
– The second group can also hear the call, as they are not deaf, but they do not respond to it, so the Qur’an considers them dead, even if their bodies are alive.
– While the opposite of ‘the people who hear’ could be ‘the people who don’t hear’, the verse considers the term ‘dead people ’ as an opposite to ‘the people who hear’, to show us the huge impact of not listening to the message of Allah.
– This verse teaches us that the real value of life is to CONNECT to Allah. It also teaches us that full hearing involves responding in addition to material hearing, so the result of hearing is the more important aspect in the hearing process.
– So, people who can hear and respond to Allah’s message are alive; they would gain every goodness in this life and in the hereafter. Whereas people who hear yet they don’t respond are considered dead, and they would loose everything in both lives.
Would you choose to be among the conscious attentive successful people, or among the dead and arrogant ones?
