الهي ما عبدتك خوفاً من نارك، ولا طمعاً في جنتك، ولكن وجدتك اهلاً للعبادة فعبدتك
“O’Allah, I do not worship you out of fear from the Hellfire or out of desire for Paradise. Rather, I found that you are worthy of worship so I worshipped You.”
This is the beautiful relationship we should have with Allah (swt). Once you realise that Allah (swt) is the only One truly worthy of worship, you will achieve the epitome of imaan.
What makes Allah (swt) worthy of worship?
– He is the Creator of all things
– He is not limited by time or space
– He is not in need of anyone or anything, unlike His creation which is never self-sufficient
– He is capable of anything (القادر على كل شيء)
…among endless other reasons.
We encourage you to strengthen your relationship with Allah (swt), by knowing His attributes better. One good way of doing this is by learning the names of Allah (swt) and reading the Qur’an.
Ultimately, the only conclusion you will reach is that He alone is worthy of worship, and that should be your reason to obey Him only.
May Allah make us of those who worship Him as He deserves to be worshipped.
