How Flowers Give Us Dawah

The central image is of a beautiful Islamic mosaic. Anyone can admire the precision, the geometric perfection, the superior craftsmanship, the harmony of colours and the beauty of the design. We may wonder, who was the artist who fashioned it? Which human being had the skills to create it? No one would ever suggest that it could have been created through chance; that the tiles somehow cut themselves into shape and fell into just the right spot. Because we all know that every design needs a designer and every creation needs a creator.

However somehow, when some people observe nature, they make this absurd conclusion. The flowers in the images below are infinitely more complex than the mosaic. When placed side by side, the mosaic can not compete with the magnificence of the flowers, and seems dull, lifeless and simple in comparison. How then, can one observe the mosaic knowing it has a creator, but look at the flowers’ geometric perfection, harmony of colours, creativity of composition and claim there was no creator; that they appeared through chance?

Every aspect of nature is like a small messenger of God; conveying to us his perfection, love, mercy and his divinity. They are the signs of God which bloom in every land, affirming the God-conscious minds and challenging the atheists’ minds.

In reality, the mosaic was inspired by nature, for nature is the source of all beauty. And all beauty comes from God.

Nature is mentioned many times in the Quran as a sign such as this example in which God says:

“…And also, the things of varying colors He has created for you in the earth. There is certainly a sign in that for people who pay heed…” (Quran 16:10-17)

So let us take heed, and appreciate the glory of God’s creations.
